If you haven't noticed by now, music departments throughout the Southeast are cutting budgets to make ends meet. Music programs are though still doing everything within their power to provide the best possible experience and education to students. "Back in the day," many students who attended school were without air conditioning, dry erase boards, and even had to exit a building entirely to get to other classrooms. On the other hand, music departments flourished, instructors were a "dime-a-dozen," and high school music departments were forced to implement multiple marching bands to accommodate for the number of interested participants. Now, directors and instructors are diversifying their instructional methods extensively, and are at times, running entire programs and ensembles alone. Although the Southeastern Percussion Association (SEPA) can't directly provide funding for programs, instructors and directors can now find alternative solutions and assistance from fellow SEPA members.
